Futures Game” Regional Summit Set for March 5th
February 5, 2009
The next event in a series of regional summits designed to boost the Four-States economy is a Futures Game event slated for March 5th. The Futures Game is a fun, interactive scenario-based planning simulation that demonstrates the impact of decisions on the future of the Four-States region.
Offered exclusively to regions like the Quad-States area that are transforming for a future of global competitiveness and economic prosperity. The Futures Game supports the design of strategies through scenario planning.
This innovative workshop demonstrates how planning decisions influence a region’s environment, population, growth, and economic well-being. During this highly interactive session, teams compete to devise regional strategies that will achieve the best 25-year outcome for a region in the rugged Australian outback. This simulation integrates decision making across the community, economic, and environmental dimensions, while incorporating global, national, and local issues.
Why is this important
The Futures Game offers enriching benefits to the business and community leaders engaged in designing the outlook of our region. Offered in conjunction with the Regional Chambers of Commerce growth initiative, this summit provides insight on the important next steps of regional development, building on the progress of previous regional summits held in April, June, and September. Participants will experience first-hand the illuminating effects of differing priorities and decision-making on our long-term economic outcomes.
The workshop helps teams assimilate a variety of drivers and variables, and assess their potential impact to the region’s economy, workforce and capacity for future innovation. It takes a multifaceted and integrated view of the future, and allows participants to explore a range of plausible outcomes and assess their implications and consequences. This “futures simulation” approach adds extra depth and strength to regional planning efforts underway in the Four-States area.
Like previous regional summits, the Futures Game workshop on March 5th provides valuable opportunities for collaboration and networking. Regional leaders, stakeholders, and partners come together to explore the future in a fun and innovative way. While expanding their social leadership networks, participants learn and collaborate on different points of view and perspectives.
Who Sponsors and Coordinates the Futures Game
The Futures Game summit is sponsored by the Quad-States Regional Transformation partnership of local Chambers of Commerce and Workforce Investment Boards throughout the region. Made possible by the Regional Innovation Grant from the United States Department of Labor, the workshop is created by Innovation Leadership Australia and presented by consultants at Maher and Maher.
