The Missouri-Arkansas Partnership (MAP) met for their September meeting in Bentonville.   Over the past year, MAP has eyed the regional development opportunities offered through the WIRED approach.  In follow-up to the August meeting in Cassville, MAP members voted unaminously to support the Quad-States Regional Innovation Grant proposal through the following statement:

To our friends at the U.S. Department of Labor:

The Missouri-Arkansas Partnership is a public/private community and economic development organization dedicated to the positive growth and prosperity of northwest Arkansas and southwest Missouri. The team plans for economic and community development for the two state, three county area that is one of the fastest growing in the Four-States region.. This is a grass roots effort that operates without bureaucracy by engaging and involving citizens from the small rural communities to assist in the strategic planning efforts for the region.

The Southwest Missouri Workforce Investment Board demonstrated forward-thinking in their approach to engage M.A.P. in taking the next steps to define the region and position it as a global competitive leader in the future of economic development.  The Regional Innovation Grant formed in partnership with the local Workforce Boards across the Four-States represents an ideal path to take our efforts to the next level of excellence.  Collectively, the members of the Missouri-Arkansas Partnership wholeheartedly support the joint Regional Innovation Grant and the implementation of the WIRED framework to help M.A.P. accomplish its goals as well.  The signatures below represent concurrence and support for the Regional Innovation Grant.

The letter was signed by voting members in attendance:

>>> Matt Thornton, McDonald County Community Development Corporation
>>> Cherry Warren, Barry County Presiding Commissioner
>>> Jeff Hawkins, Director of Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning
>>> Jim Hall, Nothwest Arkansas Community Community College at Bentonville
>>> Bill Millager, W3C (Water Coalition)
>>> Wes Hogue, Mayor, City of Gentry
>>> Lida Schnitzer, Mayor, City of Gateway
